Alfajores are originally from Spain, and now particularly from Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. We encountered them in a seaside café run by an Argentinian in Lanzarote. And then we came back every day…

Two round shortbread-y biscuits joined by thick, creamy dulce de leche. Appropriately, the name comes from an Arabic word meaning ‘luxurious’.
